About

Hi! I'm Ashley. My family moved here to Chicago this past fall (2016) after spending a few years in the town I grew up in, in North Western Illinois. While living there, we kept ourselves busy renovating our 1870's victorian home, blogging for sites like Apartment Therapy, the Etsy Blog, and other DIY sites. In between documenting and blogging our bathroom remodel and painting the patio, I gave birth to our daughter, Louisa.

Previously, we lived in Denver, CO where my hubby owned and operated Ollie's Barber Shop, and I worked in marketing for an online education company.

Before that it was Savannah, Ga, before that was somewhere else -you get the picture. Every place we've lived I've made it my mission to get the lay of the land by visiting every thrift shop I can find across the city. It's a fun little adventure that takes me to places I otherwise might not wander off to. They're short little trips that always offer rewards (cheap rewards!) and its a great way to spend an hour or two.

What makes me think I have any expertise in this area? Well, I've been thrifting since I was 15 (which was quite some time ago), and was brought up on spending .10 and .25 on glassware and $1-$5 on clothing items. I'm obsessed with vintage clothing and have dabbled in selling on eBay and etsy over the past 10 years. I have a terrible memory, but for some reason my thrift recall is impeccable. I can tell you exactly what the Salvation Army in my hometown looked like when I was 15- but it somehow escaped my recent memory that we had a friend live with us for 3 months back in 2013. All that to say, thrifting is kind of my thing. I mostly love it, sometimes I get really frustrated by it, but regardless, I LOVE talking about it. If this is something you're interested, follow along as I discover this city by way of it's thrift stores.
